FIRST, THE FACTS
What does CBSE actually require?
A functioning website with prescribed, up-to-date school information and Mandatory Public Disclosure is required. The Affiliation Bye-Laws (clauses 2.3.8 and 2.4.9), CBSE circulars and the revised Appendix IX set the framework. The Board has directed schools to show a prominently visible Mandatory Public Disclosure link on the homepage. Its 12 January 2026 circular specifically reinforces publishing updated teacher names and qualifications.
Maintain your own website
It must be functional and provide vital school information—not just a social media page.
Make disclosure easy to find
Place a distinctly visible Mandatory Public Disclosure link on the homepage.
Publish accurate records
Include the applicable Appendix IX fields and self-attested documents. Keep teacher information current.
Regulatory note: The checklist below reflects the revised Appendix IX attached to Circular 01/2026. Requirements depend on applicability, school category and later CBSE/state directions. This guide is not an official certification.

BEYOND COMPLIANCE
What a school website should have to win parents’ confidence
These are recommended website improvements, not additional CBSE mandates. A school can meet disclosure requirements and still lose interested parents to a confusing website. These six improvements help turn a regulatory website into a useful admissions and communication channel.
Admissions that are easy to understand
Clear eligibility, admission steps, enquiry contact, fee information and campus-visit booking. Parents should not need five phone calls to understand how to apply.
A fast, mobile-friendly experience
Readable text, working menus, compressed images, accessible buttons and contact details that work on a phone. Test on ordinary mobile connections.
Proof, not just promises
Authentic campus photographs, facilities, student work, academic approach and genuine achievements—published with appropriate permissions.
Freshness and trust
Updated calendar, notices, faculty information, certificates and disclosures. Remove outdated admission banners and broken PDFs.
Search and local discovery
Clear page titles, descriptive school/location information, structured contact details and content that answers the questions parents search for.
Privacy and accessibility
Avoid exposing student records; publish a clear privacy notice, secure forms, readable contrast, alt text and keyboard-friendly navigation.
YOUR WEBSITE IS YOUR DIGITAL FIRST IMPRESSION
Parents often meet your school online before they meet your teachers.
A thoughtful school website does more than satisfy a checklist. It helps a parent imagine their child learning on your campus, find answers without waiting for a callback, and feel confident enough to schedule a visit. Two schools may offer similar facilities, but the one that communicates its values, academic approach, achievements and admissions process clearly has an advantage in earning attention and trust. Compliance creates credibility; clarity and experience create differentiation.
HOW SCHOLARAIMS CAN HELP
From compliance gaps to a clearer digital experience
We can start by reviewing what your current website publicly shows, identify missing or hard-to-find disclosures, and recommend improvements to navigation, mobile readability, admissions information and trust-building content. You receive an actionable report separating CBSE-related disclosure findings from optional design, SEO and admissions recommendations. Any implementation or website redesign is a separate discussion—there is no obligation to purchase anything.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions principals ask
Is a website compulsory for a CBSE-affiliated school?
Yes. CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws clauses 2.3.8 and 2.4.9 require schools seeking affiliation and affiliated schools to develop and maintain a website with prescribed information.
Where should Mandatory Public Disclosure appear?
CBSE directs schools to place a clearly visible Mandatory Public Disclosure link or icon on the school website homepage.
Does CBSE require online admissions, SEO or an AI chatbot?
These are not listed as mandatory website features in the cited Appendix IX. They may be useful improvements, but schools should not confuse marketing recommendations with CBSE requirements.
Does the free analysis certify CBSE compliance?
No. It is an advisory review of publicly accessible website content and user experience, not an official CBSE inspection, legal opinion or affiliation certificate.
